Video Inspections

Overview on how Video Inspections work on the Whip Around app

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

You can now record short videos (up to 10 seconds) while raising a defect during an inspection. Videos give mechanics, fleet managers, and service providers a clearer view of the issue — with the option for operators to narrate and explain what’s happening.

Why it matters

  • Better clarity: Video captures detail that photos alone may miss.

  • Save time: Reduce back-and-forth between drivers, managers, and mechanics.

  • Compliance & protection: Video records provide stronger documentation for insurance and safety compliance.

How it works (Android)

  1. Start an inspection as usual.

  2. When raising a defect, you’ll now see an option to “Record Video.”

  3. Record up to 10 seconds. You can also take photos alongside your video.

  4. You can add multiple videos:

  5. Submit your inspection — the video will be attached to the defect report.

Coming soon: iOS support will be available in the coming months.

Video Inspections FAQ

Q: Can I add more than one video when creating a defect?

A: Yes. You can attach multiple 10-second videos to the same defect, alongside photos.

Q: How long can each video recording be?

A: Each video can be up to 10 seconds long.

Q: Does it capture audio if I speak while recording?

A: Yes. Videos record both visuals and audio, so you can narrate the defect for extra clarity.

Q: Can I combine photos and videos together in one defect report?

A: Yes. You can attach both photos and videos to ensure the defect is captured in the best way possible.

Q: Does video recording work offline?

A: Yes. You can capture videos offline during an inspection. Once your device has network coverage again, the inspection (including videos) will automatically sync to the cloud.

Q: When will Video Inspections be available in iOS?

A: In the coming months.
