Clocking in and out of a Work Order (Web)

How to start and stop a labor timer on a work order from the web dashboard.

To clock in:

  • Open the work order and go to the Items section.

  • Click Track labor in the Items header and choose General labor, or pick a specific item.

  • The Track labor dropdown in the Items section header

  • Check the details in the Start labor window — what you’re tracking, the technician, and the hourly rate — then click Start labor.

  • The Start labor window confirms what’s being tracked, the technician, and the hourly rate

  • The timer starts. A green Clocked in bar appears at the top of the app showing the work order, what you’re tracking, and elapsed time — so you can keep working and navigating. A matching timer also shows in the Items header.

The green Clocked in bar persists across the app while your timer runs

To clock out:

  • Click Stop labor in the green bar at the top, or Stop in the Items header.

  • Review the Stop labor window — clock-in time, total labor, and hourly rate — then enter a Description of the work. A description is required.

  • The Stop labor window — clock in, labor duration and hourly rate, with a required Description

  • Click Stop labor. The entry is added to the work order and the labor cost updates.

Good to know: the hourly rate shown is locked in at clock-in, so later rate changes never rewrite this entry. Tracked labor entries also appear on the work order PDF once the work order is Completed.
