Admin settings - Setting up labor rates and hiding rates from mechanics

How to configure labor rates and control who can see labor cost.

Labor cost is calculated as hourly rate × duration. Whip Around uses the mechanic’s own rate if one is set, otherwise the account default rate.

Everything below lives in Settings → Admin settings → Labor rates.

  1. Account default rate — set a Default hourly rate. This applies whenever a mechanic doesn’t have a per-user rate of their own.

  2. Rate visibility — turn on Hide hourly rates and costs from mechanics. With this on, mechanics see duration only, never hourly rate or cost figures anywhere in the app.

  3. Stale timer threshold — set Auto-stop after a number of hours (default 8). Timers running longer than this are stopped automatically, so a forgotten clock doesn’t run overnight.

  4. Per-user rates — override the account default for individual mechanics. Rates are stored on the driver profile, so editing here is the same as editing that user’s hourly rate from the people directory.

Good to know: the rate is captured at clock-in and stored on the entry, so changing rates later never alters past or running entries.
