Add and remove attachments on a defect from the mobile app

All about defect attachments on the mobile app

You can attach photos, PDFs, spreadsheets and other files to any defect in the Whip Around app. It's handy for adding a quote from a mechanic, a receipt, or an extra photo taken after the inspection was done.

Where to find attachments

  • Step 1: Open the Defects module and tap the defect you want.

  • Step 2: Tap the Attachments tab. The Details tab holds the defect information, and Attachments holds every attachments on that defect.

Any photos or videos captured during the inspection sit at the top of the list. Anything added afterwards follows below.

Add an attachment

  • Step 1: On the Attachments tab, tap the add attachment button (If no attachment has been uploaded yet), or the upload button (if an attachment exists already)

  • Step 2: Pick the file from your device.

  • Step 3: Wait for the upload to finish. The file then appears in the list.

Note: Each file can be up to 50MB. There's no limit on how many attachments you add to a defect. You can upload most common file types, including PDFs, images and CSV files.

Delete an attachment

  • Step 1: On the Attachments tab, find the file you want to remove.

  • Step 2: Tap the delete icon on that attachment.

Note: Photos and videos captured during an inspection can't be deleted — they're part of the inspection record. You'll only see the delete option on files that were uploaded to the defect afterwards

Drivers: You can delete attachments on defects you raised yourself. Those are the only defects you'll see in the app anyway.

Attachments on mobile and web

Attachments stay in sync between the app and the web dashboard. Anything you add on your phone shows up on the web, and anything your team adds on the web shows up in the app. Deletions work the same way.
