A clearer, more connected way to manage defects
New · Improvement — 27 May 2026
Enterprise defect management gets harder at scale — when the same issue passes between drivers, mechanics, and managers across thousands of assets, multiple locations, and parallel inspection, maintenance, and reporting workflows. Defects 2.0 brings all of that into one modern, connected experience, so larger fleets can see the full story of every defect and act on the right one at the right time. It's built for the complexity our enterprise customers run on every day.
What's new:
Find the right defect faster — A redesigned Defect List with improved filtering, sorting, and column management, plus new columns for Defect Type, Repeated Times, Defect Source, and Created By.
Tell "needs work" from "reviewed" — A new No correction needed status keeps reviewed defects visible, searchable, and reportable without forcing a repair.
Stay ahead with better reporting — Report on defects by All, New, In Progress, No Correction Needed, or Corrected, and schedule those reports so managers stay informed automatically.
See the full context in one place — A refreshed Defect Details page with an Attachments section for media and documents, attachment filters, an improved Activity Log, and a richer info panel showing repeat count, defect type, created date, and more.
Capture issues from anywhere — Create and edit manual defects directly from the web dashboard, without relying on the mobile app.
Track what matters to your operation — Add up to 10 custom fields for defects, visible on both the Defect List and Defect Details pages.
Together, these updates give enterprise fleets a more configurable, auditable defect workflow — capturing issues earlier, prioritizing with better context, reducing missed or duplicated records across large asset bases, and keeping maintenance and compliance connected so vehicles stay safer and more road-ready.

Arrange your columns the way you work
Improvement — 30 April 2026
Everyone reads a list differently — the column one team checks first is the one another team barely looks at. Column reordering, one of our most-requested improvements, puts that choice in your hands. Drag your columns into the order that suits you, right alongside the existing Manage Columns controls, so your most important data sits exactly where you want it.
What's new:
Drag to reorder any column — Set the column order that matches how you work, with the same control you already have over which columns show.
Your layout sticks — Column order is saved on your browser, so it persists across sessions on the same device. (Switching devices or clearing your cache resets it to default.)
Key columns stay put — A few anchor columns like Inspection ID and Asset Name are fixed so links to detail pages always stay accessible — as a rule, if a column can't be removed, it can't be reordered.
A small change, but a meaningful one: less scrolling and scanning, and a view that's tailored to each team.
Available now across Inspection History, Defects, Work Orders, Inventory, Purchase Orders, Assets, Vendors, Drivers, and Driver Wellness — plus the embedded lists within Asset, Driver, and Team detail pages.
Bring telematics and inspections together with GPS Insight
New — 24th April, 2026
We've partnered with GPS Insight to unite on-road visibility with off-road readiness in one connected platform. Their telematics, AI dash cams, and safety data now pair with Whip Around's inspections, maintenance, and compliance tools — so the data your fleet generates on the road turns directly into action in the shop, with no silos and far less manual work.
What's new:
Sync telematics with inspections automatically — Mileage and vehicle data flow into Whip Around to keep records accurate and trigger maintenance in real time, with no manual entry.
Turn faults into work orders — Diagnostic data becomes instant work orders, so faults and defects are managed in one place before they become breakdowns.
Stay ahead of compliance — Alerts for missed DVIRs and unresolved issues help reduce violations and improve CSA scores.
See the whole picture with AI — GPS Insight's AI dash cams combined with Whip Around's AI Inspections Pro give real-time visibility across driver behavior, vehicle condition, and on-road events.
Inspect within your existing workflow — Drivers can access the Whip Around app directly from GPS Insight Inspect, improving data quality and accountability without adding friction.
The result: a single source of truth across telematics and inspections — fewer breakdowns, fewer violations, and faster, better-informed maintenance decisions.

Keep service schedules on track, even when work happens early
New — 31 March 2026
Until now, completing a service early quietly pushed every future service forward with it. Service a vehicle at 500 miles on a 1,000-mile program and the next one lands at 1,500 — drifting further from schedule each time. For warranty work and OEM-recommended maintenance, that drift is a real problem. Service Programs now lets customers choose how intervals are calculated, so schedules can stay anchored to fixed milestones no matter when the last service happened.
What's new:
Choose how intervals are calculated — Stick with rolling intervals (the default), where the next service is based on the last one completed, or switch to fixed intervals that hold to a predefined schedule.
Stop early services from shifting the schedule — With fixed intervals, that 500-mile service still leaves the next one due at 1,000 — the program stays aligned instead of drifting.
Exports stay accurate — CSV and Excel exports reflect the correct due dates based on the mode you've selected.
This is especially useful for warranty programs like fixed-interval oil changes, OEM-recommended maintenance, and any fleet that wants consistent, predictable service timing across its vehicles.
Available on an opt-in basis for customers with Pro/Fixed unlimited subscription. Want fixed intervals switched on for your fleet? Have a chat with your CSM — they'd be happy to help.
A refreshed Drivers list that works like the rest of Whip Around
Improvement — 17 February 2026
The Drivers list page has moved to the same modern list view that powers your other list pages, so navigating drivers now feels consistent with Assets, Work Orders, Inventory, and the rest of the platform. Everything you did before still works exactly as it did — now with added power, including custom filtering to find the drivers you need faster.
What's new:
A consistent, modern list — The Drivers page now uses the same datagrid as the rest of Whip Around, for one familiar experience across every list.
Filter the way you want — New custom filtering makes it quicker to narrow down to exactly the drivers you're looking for.
Same functionality you know, in a cleaner and more capable view
Available now to all accounts.
Give every defect the context a photo can't
New — 10 March 2026
A photo shows what a defect looks like — but not the rattle, the leak under pressure, or the detail a driver would point to if they were standing next to the mechanic. Video Inspections closes that gap. When logging a defect, drivers can now capture a 10-second narrated video alongside their photos, so the people fixing the issue see and hear exactly what's wrong before they ever touch the vehicle.
What's new:
Capture a narrated video with any defect — Drivers record a 10-second clip alongside photos when logging a defect, straight from the mobile app.
Give mechanics richer context — Sound and motion surface details a still image misses, so issues are understood right the first time and fewer details slip through.
Strengthen your compliance and insurance record — Time-stamped video creates clearer, more defensible documentation of vehicle condition when it matters most.
Together, this gives fleets a more accurate picture of issues in the field — fewer missed details, better-informed repairs, and stronger protection when documentation counts.
Available now on both iOS and Android.
Your custom reports, now in one central place
New — 14 January 2026
When reporting lives outside the platform, it's harder to find, harder to share, and harder to control who sees what. Custom Reports brings the bespoke reports our team builds for you straight onto your Whip Around dashboard — so the numbers your operation runs on sit alongside everything else, with the right people seeing the right reports. For larger fleets juggling reporting across teams and roles, that means one source of truth instead of scattered files.
What's new:
See every custom report in one place — Reports built for your account now appear directly on your Whip Around dashboard, so there's no hunting across email or files to find them.
Control who sees what — Grant different users access to different custom reports, so each team sees the reporting relevant to them and nothing they shouldn't.
Together, this gives fleets a centralized, governed home for custom reporting — easier to access, easier to manage, and aligned with how larger teams control visibility across roles.
Available to accounts with custom reports built by the Whip Around team. Curious about custom reports for your fleet? Have a chat with your CSM — they'd be happy to help.
